My name is John “Tig” Tiegen. I’m a husband, a father, a Marine, and a proud resident of Colorado Springs.
Many people know my name from Benghazi and the story told in 13 Hours. While that experience brought national attention, it is only one chapter of my life.
Long before the headlines, I believed in service, responsibility, hard work, and standing up for what is right — even when it is difficult.
Those values still guide me today.
I’m not running for mayor to build a political career or become another polished politician. I’m running because I believe Colorado Springs deserves leadership rooted in accountability, common sense, and real-world experience.
Some people learn leadership in boardrooms. Some learn it in politics.
I learned it in situations where the stakes were real and failure carried consequences.
My experiences taught me that excuses do not solve problems. Leadership means staying focused, making hard decisions, taking responsibility, and standing firm when others won’t.
That mindset never left me.
Colorado Springs deserves a mayor who understands accountability, pressure, and service — not politics as usual.
“Leadership is not about image. It is about doing the hard job in front of you.”
Colorado Springs is one of the greatest cities in America.
But too many residents feel like the city is falling behind on the things that matter most:
★ public safety
★ infrastructure
★ housing
★ homelessness
★ accountability
People are tired of political talking points and leadership that feels disconnected from everyday life.
I believe city government should work for the people who live here — not for politics, headlines, or special interests.
This campaign is about bringing common sense leadership back to City Hall and restoring trust between leadership and the people of Colorado Springs.
Leadership means taking responsibility, telling the truth, and making decisions that people can trust when stakes are high.
Public office should focus on serving families, supporting communities, and putting the people of Colorado Springs first.
Colorado Springs needs practical leadership focused on real solutions, clear priorities, and results people can actually see.
Strong cities are built by hardworking families, local businesses, first responders, veterans, and neighbors who care.
Colorado Springs is home to veterans, families, small business owners, first responders, churches, and hardworking people who care deeply about this community.
This city deserves leadership that respects the people who live here, listens to their concerns, and takes responsibility for results.
I believe Colorado Springs can be safer, stronger, more accountable, and better prepared for the future.
And I believe that starts with leadership people can trust.
